Tim PorterTNT would like to congratulate Tim and Terry Porter. They recently completed the Las Vegas Marathon, and for Tim, this was a tremendous accomplishment. This was not only Tim's 53rd marathon, but his first since overcoming injuries suffered in a car accident over 5 years ago. Below is Terry Porter's account of the race, and Tim's return to marathoning.

This was a 'huge' day for Tim. All he kept telling me during training, he just wanted to finish. He really thought he'd be well over 5 hours. (His time was 4:45) Actually he joked a few weeks ago, after he'd finished a 20 miler, that he'd finished marathons well before that!!! I'm so very proud of him and never had a doubt that he would run another marathon. It was perfect running conditions: 48 degrees at the start, little wind, cloudy, warming to about 55 at race end. (Nothing like the terrible conditions George suffered through years ago when they had winds around 50-60mph!). There was a huge field of full and 1/2 marathoners combined. It took us longer than we thought to get to the start, so we got positioned way back and had to weave through many of the walkers!! and some strollers for about 6 miles until the 1/2 marathoners split off! There was a huge fireworks display at 6am, before the start that was impressive! We liked the course, although not too scenic once you leave the strip. The course does climb from mile 10-19 and then a little climb for the last 3 miles. We drove the course the day before and glad we did. I was OK with my time. I got sick 3 days before the race and hoped not to cough up a lung along the way, so just backed off pace, held it steady and glad not to walk!
